The flag of Taiwan is, technically, the flag of the Republic of China. It was designed in 1928, when Chiang Kai-shek's Nationalists were in control of mainland China. The flag is red, with a white sun on a blue background in the upper left corner. The sun stands for liberty and sacrifice. White symbolizes brotherhood and honestly. Blue represents purity, freedom and government of the people.
