Happy New Year!!!
2009. Another year... another child??? Could this be the year that we adopt our next child??? Only time will tell but our fingers are crossed! Just a little recap... We adopted our daughter Shasha (actually her Chinese name) from China in July 2006. We have always known that we wanted more than one child and so after China's mandatory 1 year wait between adoption and new application we filed a new application to adopt a second child from China. At that time we were told to expect a 3 year wait. We were fine with that and actually felt that a 3 year wait would allow for the perfect age difference between our children. After a 5 month wait for our I797 from USCIS (they moved the office and we got caught right in the middle of it all)we knew that our wait for China was increasing dramatically with each day that passed. So... we started looking to adopt from a different country. Alas, we decided that Taiwan would be the perfect fit for our family. We called... we were in... and we did not have to pull our dossier from China. And that is how we began waiting not just for #2... but also #3.
The China process continues to slow down and we know that our China referral is years and years away! We are at peace with that right now although I am sure that the process to complete our second adoption from China will be a roller coaster ride in the future. What can we do but take the ups and downs as they come.
We are hoping that the year of the Ox (Chinese New Year... 2009 is the Year of the Ox)will bring Shasha a sibling from Taiwan. Or at the very least... a referral for a sibling from Taiwan. We are near certain that we will receiev a boy since we have asked for a child of either gender and more people in the adoption world request a girl. We are thrilled with that! So... here's to 2009 and the possibility of an addition to our forever family!
P.S. Shasha really wants a brother too! She hopes that we don't smush her with so many kisses quite as much!
