Hold her, Hug her, Squeeze her and Love her

Our nearly 14 year old puppy girl, Cindi Lou, has been experiencing some really rough days. It seems that back in January she may have suffered a stroke affecting the right side of her body. Her little lip, eye and ear all are hanging a bit low. We thought the worst and prepared for the worst. She also has difficulty walking, but when she was walking... it was constantly in circles to the right or just simply falling over. Despite all of this meds have helped. She seemed to respond quite quickly to the steroids, antibiotics and motion sickness pills. She was not perfect but she was happy again and eating and looking into our eyes with that look of pure love. It was NOT her time.

In February, we headed to Florida for 5 nights leaving our Cindi girl with Scott's mom who is one of the biggest animal lovers I have ever known. About an hour after arriving, we received one of those dreaded phone calls. Cindi Lou had just experienced a very bad seizure and was once again in bad shape. I wanted to jump on a plane immediately to go home but was assured that was not necessary. We spent lots of time the next day on the phone with our vet back home about the course of action. Cindi Lou was diagnosed as having a brain tumor. Apparently, the prednisone she was on for 2 weeks prior kept the size of the tumor down but once she was off it the tumor began to grow again causing the seizure. She has now been placed on prednisone and a seizure medication for the rest of her life to prevent further damage and give her the best quality of life. Scott and I have decided that at nearly 14 years old we owe her quality of life... not quantity.

We are holding on tight for the time we have left with our precious little puppy girl. After losing our Yogi dog just last January this seems even harder than ever. We will hold her, and hug her and squeeze her and love her ...with everything we have!

So sorry to hear about your precious Cindi Lou. Our boys are 12 and 13 and we love them and spoil them everyday because we know that they may not be here for long. I honestly don't know how I will survive that day.

I will keep all of you and that precious girl in my prayers.
